V Bozeman is on the rise to becoming one of the hottest soul singer of her time. She has captivated our hearts with her powerhouse vocals on the first season of FOX’s Hip Hop new drama entertainment series, “Empire”. Her debut song “What Is Love” was on the opening scene of the hit premiere episode. Her voice left you completely in awe, asking yourself, “Who is that girl?”
V is no stranger to the music industry. Before linking up with Lee Daniels, she was circulating in the background for several years. V has now partnered with mega producer, Timbaland to release her 2015 project titled “Music is my Boyfriend” under Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group by way of Epic Records.

Rebel Lifestyle: Who is V?
V Bozeman: V is a bold, black, beautiful, universal soul singer. That’s who I am…
Rebel Lifestyle: How would you describe your musical style and what artist has inspired you?
V Bozeman: My musical style, I would say is black, global, and soulful. My biggest inspirations are Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, and Chaka Khan. They are big, global, soul singers with mass appeal.
Rebel Lifestyle: How important is it for you to stay true to being yourself and why?
V Bozeman: It’s very important to live my truth and to be myself because on this platform there are so many young girls and women looking at me, watching everything I do. It’s important to be comfortable in my skin and to know that I am enough. It’s the God in me and he didn’t make any mistakes. I just embrace him for making me the way he made me and I have no apologies for it. I like to translate that through my music, my interviews, and anything this platform gives me to make sure when they see me, they see themselves.
Rebel Lifestyle: Let’s talk about the importance of image. I totally love your look and I think it’s so beautiful. At what point did you decide to cut off your hair and said, “I don’t care what anybody thinks about it”?
V Bozeman: I think it was at a critical time in my life and in my career even as a young woman. At the time, I was coming out of a girl group. It was so much about image, what we had to look like, what I had to do, what I had to represent, and it just wasn’t me. After leaving the girl group, I wanted to reinvent myself. I wanted to start all over. It wasn’t that I knew that cutting my hair would bring on this whole other image. I was just intending on starting over and growing my hair back. But once I cut it off, it was like “wow”. I really saw myself for the first time and I realized; I was enough. I loved what I saw and I just never grew it back…
